H-600 sUAS for Public Safety Personnel
Dates: February 10-13, 2025
Course Content
This course provides the participant with actual sUAS flight time utilizing a training quadcopter. This course is also designed to prepare operators to successfully pass the remote pilot knowledge test and achieve FAA remote pilot certification.
**Actual FAA testing must be administered at an authorized
Knowledge Testing Center and is NOT included in the course.**
Target Audience/Discipline
First Responder Personnel (Police, Fire, EMS, Emergency Management, Hazardous Materials) who could encounter an emergency involving hazardous materials/ weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and who are expected to recognize the presence of the HazMat/WMD, protect themselves, call for trained personnel, and
secure the area.
Eligibility
Students must be Public Sector Employees or Volunteers. Eligible individuals must be employed by or serve within a political subdivision, such as a county, municipality, city, town, township, local public authority, school district, special district, intrastate district, council of governments (whether incorporated as a nonprofit corporation under state law or not), any other regional or intrastate government entity, or any agency or instrumentality of a local government. Private sector, federal, non-profit, and not-for-profit employees may not be eligible for these classes unless they also volunteer in a public sector position. Volunteers must apply through their respective public sector agencies. This program is open to Texas residents only.
Cost
There is no cost to attend TDEM-sponsored HAZMAT training.
